When you are creating content for social media, it can be tempting to constantly show off your gorgeous boudoir image. Or even to be contantly talking about sales or available dates on the calendar. This is called selling, and although it can be successful in some cases, it’s not always the best way to engage with your audience and make them into raving superfans. When you provide valuable service to them instead of making sales pitches, you’ll get more loyal customers who will tell their friends about you and your studio. Boudoir photography is such an intimate service, so you definitley want to appear like the expert. Servicing your clients allows you to show your expertise from everything to session preparation to the different ways they can display their images.

The Quick Definition:

What’s the difference between service and sales? Service means being helpful or valuable rather than taking a certain action or making a purchase. Sales refers to any work you do where you’re trying to convince people that they need your product.

The Simple Formula:

If you want more engagement on your social media posts, don’t just show images and talk about sales! Offer something that helps your followers, like a tutorial or how-to post. It’s a win-win situation, because not only will you increase your reach by providing something of value but you will also increase the likelihood of your followers following through with what you have taught them. For example, let’s say you provide wardrobe tips and recommendations for your clients. Through education and providing the best vendors, the chances of your cleints bringing outfits that flatter and fit them well is high.

Why It Works:

One of the biggest issues that every studio faces on social media is the almighty engagement. There are so many posts and photos that fly past us each day, and it’s easy for them to get lost in the shuffle. This makes it difficult for your post or photo to stand out and reach your customers in the first place. By providing content that is helpful and solves problems, clients will stay engaged and think of your studio when it is time to book.

Three Things To Consider:

The next time you start to create content, consider these three statements to start getting your posts noticed.

1) Identify what type of content your followers want most. Is it more informational or interactive?

2) Focus on content that the people you are trying to reach can relate to – this will help grow your community and build a relationship with them.

3) Be engaging and personal in your posts, but make sure you provide value at the same time! Posting too much promotional material is boring for everyone involved and does not work well on social media platforms.
